Mercedes-Benz 300SL
1952 to 1962

In the early 1950s Mercedes-Benz decided to build a competitive new car for international sportscar racing. They built ten cars, won most of the races in 1952, including Le Mans, Carrera Panamericana Mexico, Swiss GP, runners-up at the Mille Miglia and many others. Then they were stored away.
A regular customer of ours fell in love with the sleek purposeful shape and asked us to build one. We constructed the space frame chassis, shaped the aluminium gullwinged body and started up the racing engine. Then this too got to be stored away. Perhaps it will one day compete in the Retro Carrera in Mexico.
As it was intended to do.
